MONEY THOUGHTS

I hate to think about money,
how much I have, how much to spend,
how much must remain for a certain need.
I truly detest this in word and deed.

So important it is I know,
especially when you have too little in store,
worse is when its gobbled up by this and that,
and can’t be restored by who or what.

The thought that one day I’ll have zero cash,
so terrifying, I dread it from coming true –
knowing I have no financial legs or arms,
friends in high places to be my balm.

So terrible the thought, so terrible the feeling,
money going and none obviously coming,
no hope from right/left, no alibils/compadres,
the fear of poverty is an awful dread.

I hate to calculate every Naira I spend,
The extravagant, I definitely do not support,
but also, I hate the nitty and gritty –
the mathematics of the poor and the over-needy.

I hate to think about money,
how much I have, how much to spend,
how much must remain for a certain need.
I truly detest this in word and deed.
