Number upon Numbers,
Variables and Constants,
x’s and y’s never ending,
I am seeing the Mathemati-stars.
I don’t understand the formulations,
how it arrived – magical calculations,
why the substituting, later factoring,
dazed and amazed, I’ll need a concotion.
Wondering who invented all these theories,
laws of lines, angles, all causing much worries,
incomprehensible additions and subtractions,
multiplications and divisions, unending explainings.
I’ve become a scibe, numbly scribbling,
whats clear to sight, but not to my understanding,
all the ‘tions’ causing me much confusion,
but like soome others, we are just make-believing.
Quadratic equations, a maze of discrepancies
called equals, I think they are forgeries,
square roots and everything raised to powers,
theres always a problem making me a worrying.
My teacher has been speaking in tongues,
for the past one hour, its been the other side of fun,
I know not where he’s coming from or going to,
I want to be free from his Matimati-prongs.
While I’m on the complaining,
others are on the observing,
solving it like they are drinking water,
while I detest it like snake poison.
Six solid volumes of new general mathematiks,
stacked in my shelf, all terrific and horrific,
when I begin my JSS1, Lord, this I pray,
that 4 angels my soul would keep.
