The following are some thoughts on Praising God – which I gained from a Bible study this evening, titled: ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
God cannot be exalted above who He is. He is God, the beginning and end of the whole world and everything in it. He is already exalted, and we as humans cannot exalt Him any further. He is the exalted one. In fact, no other being, no other god was / is / will be as exalted as God is.
He has been, He is and forever will be. So then, why do we praise God if we cannot add to who He is? why do we exalt Him in our praises and adoration if we can’t exalt Him any further than He already is? what happens when we praise God?
When you exalt God, you are telling Him that you are placing Him above everything else in your life. When you exalt God, He becomes your present focus, every other thing / being becomes a miniature. Thus your own attention shifts away from the physical challenges of life you may presently be facing; you then begin to see God from the perspective of who He really is, what He has done and what He can do; your lens of faith brightens up to receive the answers to your own prayers, a high speed connection between you and the throne of Grace opens up – and if at this time, you ask, you would surely receive.
Thanksgiving is a reflection of our trust in God. While we focus on God in thanksgiving, we wont see the negative circumstances which surrounds us and can only result in fear. Thanksgiving strengthens our faith in God, it honors God and keeps us humble.
Thanksgiving is evangelism.
