Gaari

Gaari, the Nigerian student’s solvent,
Number one ingredient for brain-power,
Hot or cold, wet or dry,
all of us have one time given it a try.
A handfull with some chilled or cold water,
if you’re able, add sugar, milk and milo,
as you swallow, with each spoonful comes the power,
to go and hit the books for one more hour.

Eba with Okra soup, vegetable, ewedu and gbegiri,
any of those combinations will restore your vigor,
going straight down your throat with one scoup,
after a hearty dinner, a smile to show your 32,
joy and peace have just parked in the same garage.

Gaari, gaari,
anytime, anywhere, anyhour
The original wack of my fatherland.
