At the Foot of the Cross

At the Foot of the Cross,
the Soldiers playfully gathered,
jeering at the “Savior” they had crucified.
Of Him, they were the least bothered.

At the Foot of the Cross,
Jesus’ blood was dripping,
but the busy Soldiers never knew,
that it could save them from their sin.

At the Foot of the Cross,
they cast their armour and garments by,
for Jesus’ garments they would cast lots,
one by one, they each had a try.

They had seen Jesus the Savior,
they even heard His words of eternal Life,
yet, they pitched their tent with Pilate,
and lost the greatest opportunity of Life.

Today, many generations past,
Christ’s Love has spread the world over,
ye,there are still some ‘Soldiers’,
hearint but not believing,
seeing, but jeering,
day by day, still casting their lots.

At the Foot of the Cross,
some had doomed themselves for destruction,
It was also at the Foot of the Cross
that many have found their Salvation.
