And as we worship, build your throne

And as we worship, build Your throne
And as we worship, build Your throne
And as we worship, build Your throne
Come Lord Jesus, and take Your place

The above is the chorus of Don Mowen’s song ‘Jesus, we enthrone you‘ and it has been ministering to me since morning.

The thought crossed my mind that perhaps, the reason why God has not filled his throne in our lives as Christians; in the families we are part of; in the communities where we live in; in the nations of our citizenship, and in this world where we all live in – is because we fail worship Him continually.

The chorus rightly says “and as we worship

How do we worship God continually?

1) With our lives

Gen 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Adam and Eve had sinned, and they couldn’t worship God with their lives anymore. In fact, even though “they still heard” God as He took a stroll through the garden of Eden, they were afraid, they hid themselves. Unlike at previous times where they might have presented themselves before God with joy, confidence and expectation, this time God call out to Adam “where art thou?”.

Sin prevents us from worshipping God.

2) Through songs of praise, in spirit and in truth:

John 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
John 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We can only worship God if our spirit is connected to the throne of Grace. Our spirit will be connected to the throne of Grace when our lives and heart is right with God. If our lives and heart isn’t right with God, we can best be described as:

Mat 15:8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

How many people go to church every Sunday, shout Halleluyah with everybody else, yet, their hearts are far from God. God cannot build, God will not build His throne in / around a people who don’t worship Him. And as we worship, build your throne, God inhabits the praises of His people.

What happens when we don’t worship God continually? all the poverty, hardship, death, war and turmoil that is happening in the world today.
